What is a rhytidectomy?

A Rhytidectomy or facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that restores the skin reducing sagging and improving the signs of aging in the face and neck, creating a more youthful appearance. This surgery is ideal for people who want to improve signs of facial aging, like saggy, wrinkly skin and jowls.

What should I expect?

During a facelift, a flap of skin on each side of the face is peeled back and the tissues below the skin are altered in order to restore the contour and youthful appearance of your face. Fat in the skin may be sculpted, removed, or redistributed. The procedure typically takes 2-4 hours to complete.

What does recovery look like?

The recovery process depends on the procedure and your overall health. Bruising and swelling may take a couple of weeks to go down, and it may take a couple of months to feel like your face is fully back to normal.
